Cookies the shop needs
rt_locale remembers your language (1 year); rt_market the shop you chose (30 days); rt_draft and rt_gift keep the book or portrait you are making, and rt_cart your basket (30 days); rt_ref keeps a referral or partner code from a link you followed (30 days); rt_consent remembers your choice about analytics; admin uses its own login cookie (rt_admin). They are needed for the site to work and are not used to track you. rt_utm keeps the campaign name of the ad or newsletter link that brought you here (no id, 30 days; not set after a "no"), so an order can say which campaign it came from.
In this tab only
The name you type on the home page is kept in this browser tab only (not a cookie, never sent to us), so the book covers can show it. A random number that splits our page tests also stays in the tab and identifies no one.
Payments
When you pay, Stripe sets its own cookies on its payment page and on our express payment page (Apple Pay and Google Pay) to prevent fraud. They are needed for the payment; see Stripe's privacy policy.
Advertising (only if you allow it)
If you choose "Allow" in the cookie banner, we load Meta's Pixel (Facebook, Instagram) and TikTok's Pixel. They set their own cookies (_fbp, _fbc, _ttp and similar; rt_ttclid keeps TikTok's ad click for 30 days) and tell Meta and TikTok which pages you saw, what went into the basket, and the value of a purchase, so we can see which ads work. When you pay, we send the same purchase to them from our server, with your email address scrambled (hashed), your browser and your IP address. We never send names, photos, ages, dedications, addresses or anything you typed for a book. If you choose "No thanks" nothing is loaded. You can change your mind at any time under "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page; saying no removes their cookies.
Google (Tag Manager, Analytics, Ads)
Google Tag Manager and Google's tags load only after you choose "Allow"; before that nothing of Google's is loaded. Once allowed, they set Google's own cookies (_ga, _gcl_au and similar) to measure visits and which ads work. Saying "No thanks", or changing your mind later under "Cookie settings", removes those cookies and stops loading Google's tags.
